Tottori

Tottori is famous for the Tottori Sand Dunes, a unique landscape of sand dunes alongside the Sea of Japan. Other popular tourist attractions include the Tottori Castle Ruins, the Jinpu-kaku mansion, the Tottori Hanakairo Flower Park, and the many onsen (hot springs) around the prefecture.

The best time to visit Tottori is during the fall season, from September to November, when the weather is mild and the foliage is beautiful. Spring is also a good time to visit for the cherry blossoms, but the sand dunes can be quite windy during this time.

Tottori can be reached by plane, train or bus. Tottori Airport has daily flights from Tokyo Haneda and Osaka airports. The JR Sanin Main Line runs through Tottori, connecting it to major cities in the region, including Kyoto, Osaka, and Hiroshima. Buses also run from several cities, including Osaka and Kyoto.

There are many options for accommodation in Tottori, ranging from high-end hotels to budget hostels. If you want to be close to the sand dunes, there are several ryokans (traditional Japanese inns) located in the area. If you prefer to stay in the city, there are several business hotels and guesthouses to choose from.

Tottori is known for its seafood, especially crab and sushi made with fresh ingredients from the Sea of Japan. Other local specialties include Tottori wagyu beef, sand dune vegetables, and horumon (offal dishes).
