The best time to visit Livorno is during the shoulder seasons, spring (April-May) and fall (September-October). The weather is pleasant, the crowds are smaller, and you can enjoy the city without the peak season rush.

You absolutely must try Cacciucco (fish stew), a local specialty. Also, sample the fresh seafood, and don't miss out on Ponce alla Livornese, a coffee-based drink with a kick.

Livorno is easily walkable, especially in the city center. You can also use local buses for longer distances. For exploring the coast, consider renting a bike or using taxis.
