The best time to visit Lamu is during the dry season, from June to March. The weather is sunny and pleasant, ideal for exploring the island and enjoying the beaches. The humidity is lower during these months, making outdoor activities more comfortable.

Lamu Town is a car-free zone, so walking is the primary mode of transport. Donkeys are also used for carrying goods and people. For longer distances, you can take a dhow (traditional sailing boat) or a water taxi to other parts of the island or nearby islands like Shela and Manda.

Pack light, breathable clothing, including swimwear, shorts, t-shirts, and a light cover-up for the sun. Comfortable walking shoes are essential. Don't forget sunscreen, a hat, and sunglasses. Respect local customs by dressing modestly, especially when visiting religious sites. A mosquito net is also recommended.
