Ise

Ise is famous for being the spiritual center of Shinto religion and home to some of the most important Shinto shrines in Japan, including the famous Ise Grand Shrine.

The best time to visit Ise is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) when the weather is mild and there are fewer crowds.

Some must-visit destinations in Ise include the Ise Grand Shrine, Okage Yokocho (a traditional street with souvenir shops and restaurants), and Meoto Iwa (a pair of stone pillars in the ocean that are considered a sacred site).

Having a guide is not necessary, but it can enhance your experience by providing more context and history about the shrines and the Shinto religion. Guided tours are available, but you can also explore on your own with the help of maps and informational signs.

There is no strict dress code, but it is recommended to dress modestly out of respect for the sacred nature of the shrines. Sleeveless tops, short skirts, and shorts are not recommended. Shoes must be removed before entering the inner sanctums of the shrines.
