The best time to visit Ilulissat is during the summer months (June to August) when the weather is milder, and the days are long, allowing for extended exploration. However, the shoulder seasons (May and September) can also be appealing, offering fewer crowds and the chance to witness the changing seasons.

Ilulissat offers a wide range of activities, including boat tours to the Icefjord, hiking trails with stunning views, dog sledding (in winter), whale watching (seasonal), kayaking among icebergs, and cultural experiences such as visiting the Ilulissat Museum and interacting with the local Inuit community.

The most common way to reach Ilulissat is by air. Air Greenland operates flights from Copenhagen (Denmark) and Kangerlussuaq (Greenland) to Ilulissat Airport (JIS). From the airport, it's a short taxi ride to the town center. Cruise ships also visit Ilulissat during the summer months.
