Flores, El Petén

The easiest way to reach Flores is by flying into Mundo Maya International Airport (FRS), located just outside of the town. Alternatively, you can travel by bus from various locations in Guatemala, though this can be a longer journey.

The main attraction is, of course, Tikal National Park, home to the impressive Mayan ruins. In Flores itself, explore the island town, visit the local markets, and enjoy the views from the Mirador del Cerro. A boat trip on Lake Petén Itzá is also highly recommended.

The dry season, from December to April, is generally considered the best time to visit Flores, as the weather is sunny and less humid. However, the shoulder seasons (May-June and September-November) can also be pleasant, with fewer crowds and lower prices.
