The best time to visit Ketchikan is during the summer months, from May to September, when the weather is milder and the days are longer. This is also peak season for wildlife viewing and outdoor activities. However, be prepared for rain, as Ketchikan is known for its precipitation.

Must-see attractions include Creek Street, Totem Bight State Historical Park, the Tongass Historical Museum, and the Great Alaskan Lumberjack Show. Whale watching and bear viewing tours are also highly recommended.

Ketchikan is a walkable city, especially downtown. However, to explore further afield, you can use taxis, rental cars, or the local bus system. Many tour operators also offer transportation to and from attractions.
