Arlington has a rich historical background which includes serving as a Confederate capital and being a significant site during the Civil War. After the war, it became a resting place for soldiers, eventually becoming what is now known as Arlington National Cemetery.

Arlington has a plethora of activities for visitors, including visiting the aforementioned Arlington National Cemetery, exploring the nature trails at Theodore Roosevelt Island, shopping and dining in Crystal City and Ballston, and experiencing the 9/11 Pentagon Memorial.
