The best time to visit Venice is during the shoulder seasons (April-May and September-October) when the weather is pleasant, and the crowds are smaller. Summer (June-August) is hot and crowded, while winter (November-March) can be cold and prone to flooding (acqua alta).

Venice is a car-free city, so you'll primarily get around on foot, by vaporetto (water bus), or by gondola. Walking is the best way to explore the city's hidden gems, while the vaporetto is a practical and affordable way to travel along the Grand Canal and to the outer islands. Gondolas are a romantic but expensive option.

Venice is known for its seafood. Be sure to try Risotto al nero di seppia (black cuttlefish ink risotto), Sarde in saor (sweet and sour sardines), and cicchetti (small snacks). Also, sample local wines like Prosecco and enjoy a gelato while strolling through the city.
