Tamarindo

The dry season, from December to April, is generally considered the best time to visit Tamarindo. The weather is sunny and dry, with ideal conditions for surfing and other outdoor activities. However, the shoulder seasons (November and May) can also be pleasant, with fewer crowds and still plenty of sunshine.

Tamarindo offers a wide range of activities, including surfing, swimming, sunbathing, sport fishing, snorkeling, scuba diving, horseback riding, zip-lining, and exploring nearby national parks like Las Baulas National Marine Park (famous for leatherback turtles) and Rincon de la Vieja National Park (known for its volcanoes and hot springs).

The most convenient way to get to Tamarindo is by flying into Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) in Liberia, which is about an hour's drive from Tamarindo. Alternatively, you can fly into Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) in San José and take a domestic flight or a shuttle bus to Tamarindo. Driving is also an option, but roads can be challenging, especially during the rainy season.
