San Giovanni Rotondo

The main attractions include the Sanctuary of Saint Pio of Pietrelcina, featuring the new church designed by Renzo Piano, the old church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, the crypt where Padre Pio's remains are kept, and the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, a large hospital founded by Padre Pio.

The nearest airport is Bari Karol Wojtyła Airport (BRI). From there, you can take a train to Foggia and then a bus to San Giovanni Rotondo. Alternatively, you can rent a car for more flexibility.

The best time to visit is during the shoulder seasons (spring and autumn) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller. However, the town is a pilgrimage site year-round, so expect visitors regardless of the season.
