New Paltz

New Paltz is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts. Hiking and rock climbing in the Shawangunk Ridge (the Gunks) are incredibly popular, with trails ranging from beginner-friendly to challenging. Other activities include biking, kayaking on the Wallkill River, and exploring the Mohonk Preserve and Minnewaska State Park, which offer stunning views and diverse ecosystems.

The most significant historical site is Huguenot Street, a National Historic Landmark District featuring seven stone houses dating back to the 17th century. New Paltz is easily accessible by car, located approximately 90 miles north of New York City. You can also take a bus or train to nearby Poughkeepsie and then use local transportation or a taxi to reach New Paltz. The town is also accessible via Stewart International Airport (SWF), which is about an hour's drive away.
