The best time to visit Davis is during the spring (April-May) and fall (September-October) when the weather is mild and pleasant. The summer months can be hot, while winters are generally mild but can experience occasional rain.

Davis is very bike-friendly, with an extensive network of bike paths. Walking is also a great way to get around the downtown area. Public transportation is available via Unitrans, the local bus system, and Amtrak provides train service to and from Davis.
