The must-see historical sites include the Library of Alexandria (reconstructed), the Catacombs of Kom el Shoqafa, Pompey's Pillar, and the Citadel of Qaitbay, built on the site of the ancient Lighthouse of Alexandria.

The best time to visit Alexandria is during the spring (March-May) and autumn (September-November) when the weather is pleasant and the crowds are smaller. The summer months can be hot and humid.
