Trakai

Trakai is easily accessible from Vilnius. You can take a train, bus, or taxi from Vilnius to Trakai. The train is a convenient and scenic option, taking about 30 minutes. Buses are also frequent and affordable. Taxis are readily available but can be more expensive.

The main attraction is Trakai Island Castle, a stunning medieval castle on an island in Lake Galvė. Other attractions include the Karaite Ethnographic Museum, the Uzutrakis Manor, and the beautiful lake scenery. Don't miss trying the local Karaite cuisine, especially kibinai.

A day trip is sufficient to see the main sights of Trakai. However, if you want to explore the area more thoroughly, enjoy boat trips on the lake, or relax and savor the atmosphere, you might consider staying overnight.
