The best time to visit Salto is during the spring (September to November) and autumn (March to May) months when the weather is pleasant for outdoor activities and the crowds are smaller. The summer months (December to February) are also popular, but can be very hot.

Salto is accessible by bus from various cities in Uruguay and Argentina. The city also has a small airport, Nueva Hespérides International Airport (STY), with flights from Montevideo. Driving is another option, with well-maintained roads connecting Salto to other parts of the country.
