Royan

Royan boasts several stunning beaches. Grande Conche is the most popular, offering easy access and various amenities. Plage de Pontaillac is known for its lively atmosphere and water sports activities. For a quieter experience, head to Plage de la Grande Côte, a bit further from the town center.

Seafood is a highlight in Royan. Be sure to try the fresh oysters, a local delicacy, along with other seafood dishes like mouclade (mussels cooked in a creamy sauce) and grilled fish. Don't forget to sample the local wines, especially the Pineau des Charentes, a fortified wine.
