Ooty, also known as Udhagamandalam, is a beautiful hill station in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Popularly known as the 'Queen of Hill Stations', Ooty is situated at an altitude of 2,240 meters above sea level, on the Nilgiri Hills range. It has a pleasant climate throughout the year, making it an ideal destination for tourists who want to escape the scorching heat of the plains. The town is surrounded by lush green landscapes, tea plantations, and diverse flora and fauna, offering a refreshing retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Getting there is relatively easy, with Coimbatore International Airport being the nearest airport, approximately 98 km away. From the airport, you can hire a taxi or take a bus to reach Ooty. The nearest major railway station is in Coimbatore, which is well-connected to major cities of India. You can also take a scenic toy train from Mettupalayam to reach Ooty. Once in Ooty, local taxis and rickshaws are available for getting around, and there are also government-run buses that connect all the major tourist destinations. The best time to visit is from October to June, when the weather is pleasant.
