Monteverde

The dry season, from December to April, is generally considered the best time to visit Monteverde. During this period, the weather is typically drier and clearer, making it ideal for outdoor activities. However, the cloud forest can be enjoyed year-round, as the wet season (May to November) offers a lush, vibrant landscape, though rain is more frequent.

Monteverde offers a wide range of activities. Popular choices include hiking in the cloud forest, ziplining, exploring hanging bridges, birdwatching, guided nature walks, visiting coffee plantations, and horseback riding. There are also opportunities for night walks to observe nocturnal wildlife and visits to butterfly gardens and serpentariums.

The most common way to reach Monteverde is by shuttle or taxi from nearby towns like La Fortuna or Liberia Airport. The journey typically involves a combination of paved and unpaved roads, and can take approximately 3-4 hours. Alternatively, you can rent a car, but be prepared for challenging road conditions, especially during the rainy season.
