Milan

The best times to visit Milan are during the shoulder seasons: April-May and September-October. The weather is pleasant, crowds are smaller than in summer, and you can enjoy outdoor activities comfortably. However, if you're interested in fashion events, consider visiting during Fashion Week (typically in February/March and September/October).

Milan offers a wealth of attractions. Must-sees include the Duomo (Milan Cathedral), the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, the Teatro alla Scala opera house, the Sforza Castle, and the Santa Maria delle Grazie church, home to Leonardo da Vinci's 'The Last Supper' (book tickets well in advance!).

Milanese people are generally stylish and value punctuality. Dress well, especially when visiting churches or attending cultural events. When dining, it's customary to wait to be seated and to not rush the meal. Learn a few basic Italian phrases; while many people speak English, it's appreciated if you make an effort to speak their language.

Milan has an excellent public transportation system. The metro (subway) is efficient and covers most of the city. Trams and buses are also available. Walking is a great way to explore the city center. Taxis and ride-sharing services are available, but can be more expensive.

Milan is a foodie paradise! Be sure to try risotto alla Milanese (saffron risotto), cotoletta alla Milanese (breaded veal cutlet), panettone (sweet bread), and aperitivo (pre-dinner drinks and snacks). Explore the Navigli district for a vibrant dining scene and enjoy gelato from a local gelateria.
