Meteora

The best time to visit Meteora is during the spring (April-May) or fall (September-October) when the weather is mild, and the crowds are smaller. Summer (June-August) can be hot, and the monasteries can be crowded. Winter (November-March) can be cold and some monasteries may have limited hours.

The most common way to reach Meteora is by train or bus from Athens or Thessaloniki. From the town of Kalambaka, which is at the base of the rock formations, you can take a taxi, rent a car, or join a guided tour to visit the monasteries. Hiking is also a popular option for those who enjoy a more active experience.

When visiting the monasteries, modest attire is required. This means covering your shoulders and knees. Women should wear skirts or dresses (pants are usually allowed, but skirts are preferred) and men should wear long pants. Shawls or wraps are often provided at the entrance if needed.
