The best time to visit Mérida is during the dry season, from November to April. The weather is pleasant, with lower humidity and less rainfall, making it ideal for exploring the city and its surroundings. However, this is also the peak tourist season, so expect higher prices and larger crowds. The shoulder seasons (October and May) offer a good balance of pleasant weather and fewer crowds.

Yucatecan cuisine is a highlight of any visit to Mérida. Be sure to try cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork), sopa de lima (lime soup), panuchos (fried tortillas with various toppings), and marquesitas (crispy crepes filled with cheese and Nutella). Don't miss out on the fresh seafood and the refreshing local beverages like horchata and agua de chaya.

Mérida is a very walkable city, especially in the Centro Histórico. You can easily explore many of the main attractions on foot. Taxis and ride-sharing services like Uber are also readily available and affordable. For exploring the surrounding areas, consider renting a car, taking a bus, or hiring a taxi for the day.
