The Fasil Ghebbi, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is the primary attraction, featuring the castles of Emperor Fasil Ghebbi, the library of Emperor Yohannes I, and the bath of Fasil. Other notable sites include the Debre Berhan Selassie Church, famous for its ceiling of painted angels, and the Qusquam Church, the final resting place of Empress Mentewab.

The best time to visit Gondar is during the dry season, from October to May. The weather is generally sunny and pleasant, making it ideal for exploring the historical sites and enjoying outdoor activities. The rainy season, from June to September, can make travel more challenging.

Pack comfortable walking shoes, as you'll be doing a lot of exploring. Bring light, breathable clothing for warm days and layers for cooler evenings. A hat, sunscreen, and sunglasses are essential.
