El Chalten

The best time to visit El Chalten is during the summer months (December to March) when the weather is mild and the days are long. However, this is also the busiest time of year. Shoulder seasons (October-November and April-May) offer fewer crowds, but the weather can be unpredictable.

The nearest airport is El Calafate (FTE), approximately 215 km away. From El Calafate, you can take a bus or hire a car to reach El Chalten. Buses are a common and affordable option, while renting a car provides more flexibility.

Hiking to the Fitz Roy and Cerro Torre peaks are the most popular activities. Other must-do activities include visiting Laguna Torre, exploring Los Glaciares National Park, and enjoying horseback riding. Remember to check weather conditions and trail closures before heading out.
