Castelo Branco

The Castelo (Castle) is the most important attraction. The Jardim do Paço Episcopal (Episcopal Palace Garden) is also a must-see, known for its stunning baroque design. Other attractions include the Museu Francisco Tavares Proença Júnior and the Igreja de Santa Maria.

The best time to visit Castelo Branco is during the spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) months when the weather is pleasant, and the crowds are smaller. Summers can be hot, while winters can be cooler.

Castelo Branco offers a taste of traditional Portuguese cuisine. Expect hearty dishes like 'bucho recheado' (stuffed pig stomach), 'maranhos' (stuffed goat stomach), and various meat stews. Local cheeses and wines are also excellent.
