Asahikawa

The best time to visit Asahikawa depends on your interests. For skiing and snowboarding, winter (December to March) is ideal. For hiking and enjoying the natural beauty, summer (July to August) offers pleasant weather. The autumn months (September to November) provide stunning fall foliage, while spring (April to May) sees the city come alive with cherry blossoms.

Asahikawa is easily accessible by train from Sapporo, with the journey taking approximately 1.5 hours on the JR Limited Express. Asahikawa Airport (AKJ) also offers domestic flights from various cities in Japan. Buses and rental cars are also available for transportation within and around the city.

Besides the Asahiyama Zoo, other must-see attractions include the Asahikawa Museum of Art, the Snow Crystal Museum, and the Otokoyama Sake Brewery. The Daisetsuzan National Park is also a major draw, offering hiking trails and breathtaking views.
